UNIVERSITI MALAYA: A series of break-ins and sexual harassment cases had occurred at Za’ba Seventh Residential College. On 2 December 2023, a witness reported noticing a suspicious individual wearing a helmet lurking in the laundry area at 7.30 p.m.

Another witness reported seeing the culprit directly staring at the female students’ underwear.

“I was so afraid when I saw that, luckily I brought my phone and took photos of the sexual harassment.” Said the witness, on her way to collect her clothes after coming back from class.

Numerous complaints and reports flooded in about the unrecognizable individual dressed as a ‘delivery guy’ sneaking upon the female students’ dormitories laundry suspension area.

The residential college management is taking prompt action to ensure students’ safety and well-being.

Therefore, as a precaution, all residents are asked to:

  • Always be on alert and do not leave the room key outside.

  • If any suspicious individuals are seen in the block area except college staff or cleaners wearing uniforms, students are asked to take pictures and contact college staff.

  • Do not hang underwear outside for a while.
